is the soup party that celebrates Austin’s multicultural community. Local non-profit Cooking Up Cultures chooses a language and a cuisine to highlight, then brings in a local chef to cook up a big pot of soup to share with community members from all different backgrounds and birth languages.
A casual setting that rotates around the city captures the diversity of Austin. We like hosting these events at local shops and iconic cultural spaces. If you know of a good location, contact us!
The soup is culturally relevant to the featured language. You are requested to BYOB (bring your own bowl). Cooking Up Cultures programs will provide spoons. Drinks will be for sale by the vendors at the space. The highlighted chef will cook up a vegetarian based soup and demonstrate how to cook it in their language.
These parties are for a diverse crowd of folks that love to share their culture, language and stories about food. Success is found when diversity of communities come together to highlight one specific language and the cultures associated with that language. Relaxing weekend event for the you and the kids.
All ticket proceeds go to Cooking Up Cultures to help build our first community center and kitchen to teach!
